The Teach-This.com online platform lets you share resources with students and use them interactively online. It can be used in class or in online teaching situations with classes of different sizes. In addition to Teach-This materials, you can also upload and use your own resources on the platform.
The platform works by converting PDFs and images into digital, interactive resources that can be shared with students via a link. Students then use a set of interactive tools to complete their work and submit it to you for marking and feedback.
The platform includes a ‘My Resources’ dashboard where you can upload, manage, preview, share, and mark your materials. The ‘Preview and Share’ tool provides interactive teaching tools and lets you share selected pages with students. In ‘Marking Mode’, you can review student submissions, mark their work, and provide direct feedback within the shared resource.
The platform is free to Teach-This.com members with an active 3-month, 6-month, or 1-year online subscription. It is designed for desktop computers, laptops, and tablets. Smaller devices are not recommended.
To access the online platform, log in to the site. Then, click the ‘My Resources’ button on the right side of the main menu.
The ‘My Resources’ dashboard is the main management area for the online platform. It displays all the files you have uploaded, along with the upload date and time, student submissions, preview and share options, and the delete function. From this page, you can add, preview, share, mark, and manage your resources.
To get started, upload a resource by clicking the ‘Add New Resource’ button.
Drag and drop a PDF or image file into the upload box, and the file will upload automatically.
You can also upload files stored on your computer by using the ‘Click here’ link.
Accepted file formats are PDF, PNG, and JPEG. Word documents cannot be uploaded directly. If your teaching resource is in Word format, first convert it to a PDF, and then upload the PDF to the platform.
Once the file has uploaded, it will appear at the top of the ‘My Resources’ dashboard.
You can click the file name in the ‘My Resources’ dashboard to edit it if needed. The file name will be visible to students when the resource is shared.
To preview and share a resource with students, click the ‘Preview and Share’ button. A new page will open showing the complete resource, including any teacher’s notes and answer keys.
Because the full resource is displayed with the interactive tools, you can use this page to teach from the resource, preview it, or review it with your students.
Before sharing a resource, deselect any pages you do not want students to see by clicking the green tick icon in the top left corner of each page. When a page has been deselected, it will appear faded out.
Once you have selected the pages you want to share, use the toolbar at the bottom of the page to add instructions or share the resource link.
To add instructions or shared notes, click the ‘Information’ icon on the right side of the toolbar. A text box will open where you can type a message for students. Click ‘Save’ to keep the message. To close the text box, click the ‘Information’ icon again.
To share the resource with students, click the ‘Share’ icon. Then, click ‘Copy link’ and send the link to your students by email, online chat, or your preferred communication tool. Remember to deselect any teacher’s notes or answer keys before sharing the link.
To return to the ‘My Resources’ dashboard, click the ‘Back’ button on the left side of the toolbar.
When a student opens the link shared by the teacher, the resource will load in their browser and display only the pages you selected, along with any instructions you added as notes.
Students complete the exercises using the text and drawing tools.
When a student has finished, they click the ‘Submit’ button and enter their name, email address, and an optional message. After they submit their work, it is automatically sent to you for marking.
After submitting, an email icon appears in the student’s toolbar. Students can click this icon to save a link to their work, allowing them to view or resubmit it later. They can copy the link to their clipboard or send it to their email address.
Once the work has been marked, students can refresh the page or reopen their saved link to see your marked items and comments.
The toolbar works in the same way in Preview, Student View, and Marking Mode.
To add text, click the ‘T’ icon on the left side of the toolbar. Move your cursor to the line where you want to add text, click, and start typing.
If the text is not aligned correctly, click the ‘Direction’ icon in the top right corner of the text box to adjust the position of the typed text.
To edit typed text, click the text and make your changes. Next to the ‘T’ icon, you can also choose different fonts, font sizes, and colours.
To draw on the resource, select the pencil icon. The drawing tool includes options for changing line thickness and colour.
To erase text or drawings, select the erase tool. Then, click or drag over the text or drawing you want to remove.
The toolbar also includes zoom-in and zoom-out controls to make the resource easier to read. On the left side of the screen, the thumbnail panel lets you quickly move between pages.
On the ‘My Resources’ dashboard, you can view student submissions for each shared resource.
When submissions have been received for a resource, a ‘View’ button appears in the student submissions column. The total number of submissions received is shown in red.
Clicking the ‘View’ button opens the marking page for that resource. This page displays each student submission, including the submission date and time, the student’s name and email address, and whether the work has been marked.
To review and mark a submission, click the ‘View / Mark’ button. The student’s submitted work will open for marking.
When you have finished marking a submission, click the ‘Submit’ button to save your marking and any optional feedback included in the notes. Once submitted, the student will be able to see the marked work after refreshing or reopening the page.
To move to another submission and continue marking, click the ‘Back’ button.
Any changes made to the resource by either the student or the teacher can be viewed by refreshing the browser page.
